Return To Work Consultations

An engaged employee is a productive employee. Yet moms returning to work often struggle with the transition back into the workplace, leading experts to coin the term “Fifth Trimester” to describe that period of change and transition when a new mom returns to work. Mothers are just getting settled and gaining confidence in motherhood, right as maternity leave ends.

Support is critical to help new parents successfully manage the challenging transition back into the workplace. The Family Room’s experienced team of prenatal and postpartum experts can answer specific questions and help calm the “first day back” nerves, as well as provide a lifeline for working parents dealing with the emotional challenges of a newborn.

One-on-one Support from International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) and Marriage & Family Therapists

A one-on-one consultation with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant prior to the return to work date for a nursing mom can provide critical and helpful information that can relieve a great deal of stress. Topics covered include breast pumps, pumping schedules, breast milk storage, best practices and more. In addition, our lactation consultant will provide ongoing support through text and phone.

Regardless of feeding choices, the back-to-work period can be overwhelming for new moms and cause a flood of emotions. Our Marriage & Family therapist can provide strategies leading up to the return to work to alleviate concerns and provide coping techniques going forward. Covering everything from expectations, identity, self-care, and more, emotional support is important to return to work with confidence.
