Community

The cornerstone of The Family Room’s mission is community and it is something we do really well. We have created a non-judgmental, safe space for new parents to be real. Whether through our classes or our regularly-hosted free community events and drop-in groups, we offer lots of ways to connect, learn, and have fun.

Playgroup (drop-in)

Get out of the house and make a friend! Our casual drop-in playgroup is not only fun for babies/toddlers, but for parents and caregivers, too. We provide toys — you provide the kids.

Breastfeeding Support Group (drop-in)

All breastfeeding questions are welcome at our weekly support group, from issues during the early days and weeks, to navigating back to work or weaning. This is a great opportunity to get support from an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), learn from peers, share concerns, and celebrate victories.

WHEN: every Monday, 10 am to noon
REGISTRATION: not required
COST: first time free, $5 after

Peer-to-Peer Postpartum Support Group (drop-in)

This group offers moms a safe and comfortable place to talk about mental health issues that arise during and after pregnancy. Postpartum depression and anxiety are the most common childbirth complications, affecting approximately one million moms in the United States every year. All too often, moms suffering from PPD feel alone and ashamed. This group strives to help moms suffering from maternal mental illness know that they are not alone. Moms are free to share their stories, ask questions, or just listen.

Note: This group is not facilitated by a mental health professional, but is a peer-to-peer support group.

WHEN: every Thursday, 1 to 2 pm
REGISTRATION: not required
COST: free
